It’s summertime and this San Diego heat really makes us want to stick to simple hairstyles that still look chic, while avoiding sweaty tresses at all costs. Today we’re sharing three of our favorite hairstyles that are perfect for summer because they don’t require a lot of tools or time and they keep your hair out of your face and sweat-free...a real win-win if you ask us!
The Perfect Messy Bun
Having long hair during summer can be a real struggle, which is why this perfect messy bun should be your go to during these warmer months. This hairstyle is not only effortless, but it can go with just about anything you’re doing all summer long.
First, prep your hair using a texturizing spray (we love this one by Oribe). Then you will want to curl your hair to give it some waves and pull it into a high ponytail that you secure with an elastic band. Keep your ponytail somewhat loose so your hair isn’t flat from being pulled too tight.
Next, you’ll split your ponytail into two sections and lightly twist one of them. Create fullness and texture by grabbing the end of your hair from the twisted section and gently push the rest of that section down toward the base of the ponytail. Pull that section back up and wrap it around the base of your ponytail. Follow those same steps for the second section of hair and secure that piece with bobby pins.
Mess with your bun and move it around a bit until you have the perfect balance of messy, textured hair that isn’t going to fall out right away. Make sure to carry some extra bobby pins with you so you can secure any falling hairs throughout the day.
The Voluminous Double Pony
Take your average ponytail to the next level by adding extra height and length using this technique. We love this hairstyle because it keeps your hair out of your face while still having tons of style and texture.
First you will want to pull all the hair above your ears into a half-up, half-down ponytail and leave the hair underneath your ears hanging loosely.
Next, you’ll scoop up the rest of your hair into a second ponytail right below the first one.
Finally, you’ll want to use a fine-tooth comb to tease the top ponytail and add some texture. If you’ve got time and don’t mind turning your curling iron on, curl the top ponytail a bit to give yourself some messy, effortless waves.
The Braided Crown
This hairstyle is perfect for keeping your hair out of your face, while still leaving most of your hair down. Adding a braid to just about any style can
Grab a chunk of hair from each side of your face and create a french braid, then secure them together in the back with a clear elastic.
Pull on your braids a bit to open them up and add a little bit of messiness, while also pinning some areas down with bobby pins so they don’t move around throughout your day. Add some texturizing spray to the ends to add a little "pieciness" to add to the effortless, summertime look.
As you can see, just because it’s hot doesn’t mean your hair should lack style. There are plenty of options to get your hair out of your face while still looking effortlessly beautiful this summer. If you’re ready for a fresh cut or color, book an appointment with us and we’ll help take your hair to the next level!
